Fidel’s Favorite

Trinidad

In the early 1980s, the Trinidad Fundadores (which means Founder) were produced exclusively for the President of Cuba, Fidel Castro. Named after one of the most beautiful colonial cities on Cuba’s South coast, Trinidad cigars are only produced in the El Laguito factory and packaged in an 'unusual' quantity of 24 cigars as well as in cabinets of 50. Once Havana’s mystery brand reserved as Cuban government gifts, the only Trinidad cigars to leave Cuba were as gifts to foreign diplomats.

In February 1998, the brand was officially launched as an export in Trinidad, Cuba.  In April 1998, these cigars were made available in Canada and Mexico, and later became available on the world market.  This brand features only one size, the Fundadore.

Trinidad’s blend is created from the same selection of leaves as the Cohiba brand, which come from five of the finest plantations in the Vuelta Abajo region.  With a medium strength, floral aroma, and an herbal taste with a hint of vanilla, the Trinidad epitomizes the Cuban cigar.
